4th of July Safety Tips
As you may know, The Broadway Clinic will be closed this Friday and Saturday for Independence Day. Are you ready for the brightest holiday of the summer!? The 4th of July is just a few days away, and many of us are completely unprepared. This unpreparedness, though, really only applies if you’re about to be using fireworks. Most people have no idea how dangerous fireworks can be. Each year there are 7,000 injuries and over 30,000 fires caused by fireworks. Follow these security tips to keep yourself a little bit safer!
1. Watch your pets
Pets are obviously unpredictable, and the explosions of fireworks make them even more so. Make sure they are on a leash or indoors.
2. Keep H2O ready
Have a source of water near you in case there’s any kind of accidental fire.
3. Never mix
Never EVER mix or combine fireworks together. You have no idea how it will react or what will happen.
4. Beware of duds
Fireworks you think are duds may actually still be active. Consider this when you’re handling them afterward.
5. Know your local rules
Check to see if your area is allowed to use fireworks before buying any.
6. Know all the surroundings
Be sure you have a clear area and there’s nothing around that could be flammable.
7. Don’t let kids under 12 handle sparklers
Needless to say, this is extremely dangerous and should never be an option.
Being safe and having fun are not mutually exclusive. Know your limits and enjoy the show! The Broadway Clinic wishes you a very happy 4th of July!
