Back to School and Back in Shape
Summer is coming to an end, and school bells are ringing in the distance. Some of you are sad to see it go, others are ready for the routine of the school year. Whatever time of year it is, it’s always the right time to lose weight and get healthy.
The routine can be a good thing, making it easier to plan when and how you’re going to lose weight. However, if you have kids, you know that their schedules get pretty crazy during school. Your evenings will be filled with sports practices, dance recitals, parent-teacher meetings and homework sessions. If you’re not careful, the whole year will fly by and you’ll still be in the same place you were when it started. Here are some ways you can make sure you make the most of this school year.
Plan ahead. Decide what you’re going to make for dinner ahead of time so you’re not tempted to grab fast food on the way home from picking up the kids. Mornings can be rushed so plan breakfasts that are simple but full of nutrients. Smoothies are super easy and great to take on the go. Remember: if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Make the most of your time. There are many minutes spent waiting for the kids to get out of school or practice that you could’ve been going for a walk or a bike ride or doing something to stay active. As a busy parent, you’ve got a lot on your plate, so make every moment count.
Get the kids involved. Take the whole family on a walk or plan an activity outside to get everyone up and moving. Take a break from homework or TV time to move your bodies. It’ll be more fun and motivating if you’re all doing it together.
